On December 18, 2024, TCEQ will consider approval of the executive director’s recommended state designations for the 2024 annual PM2.5 NAAQS for submittal to the governor and transmittal to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). On February 7, 2024, EPA promulgated a revised primary annual NAAQS for PM2.5, lowering the standard from 12.0 to 9.0 micrograms per cubic meter. The FCAA requires states to submit their designations by February 7, 2025.
