Between September 2019 and January 2021, the Sunset Commission developed 261 recommendations to improve the operations of 19 agencies under Sunset review, streamline government, and best meet the needs of Texans.

Resulting in the passage of several sunset-related bills, including a sunset scheduling bill.

  • Texas Economic Development Office and Office of State Federal Relations (COVID holdover)
  • River Authorities
  • Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) & ERCOT& Office of Public Utility Counsel  (moved up a year)

2024-25 Review Cycle 

  • River Authorities
  • Texas A&M Forest Service removed from Sunset Review
  • HHSC, DSHS and DFPS limited reviews removed from Sunset Review
